CAD Design

I decided to try and model Design D on Fusion 360. I created some preliminary sketches and measurements, and made an early prototype (Figure A)

What I realized with the first Speaker model render was that it was too long and unwieldy, breaking away from the compact speaker design I had envisioned. The dimension of this was 27.86cm x 16.46cm (Length x Height). As is evident with Figure B, I decided to shorten the speaker to only the required dimensions, to make it as compact as possible. The new dimensions were 19cm x 13.8 cm (Length x Height). This was far more optimized and made the design easier to 3D print as well.

I split the model into 3 STL files to make it easier and less messy to print - the backplate, fascia, and frame. Although, enough about the 3D Print - let's first talk about the CAD itself.

Radial Speaker Grille.
Helps diffract audio and give clarity to certain higher frequencies
Space-age frame is not only for aesthetics but also reduces unwanted vibrations and reverberations.
Speaker body is seperate from the frame, allowing bass to shine through and increase audio clarity.
Removable backplate allows easy access to inside.
Switch location, LED location and charging port location (L to R)

Taking Design D into fruition, I wanted to design a speaker which had space age Frutiger Aero futuristic humanist aesthetics - in lieu of Apple's 2000s design language, while being practical, relatively compact and having the design have meaning. Below are some CAD Renders of the finalized design.
